Celebrated global DJ, Diplo of the Major Lazer group performed in Uganda a week ago before touring other countries on the continent which included Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and South Africa.
His show in Uganda sold out but what Diplo remembers about the country is surprising: Diplo remembers Uganda for its slow internet other than the huge crowd that turned up for his show!
And at the end of his African tour, he took to Twitter to speak out on one thing he had noticed in all the African countries he had been to: their internet was slow save for just one place, Soweto.
Ignore the ads you watch on TV, apparently there is no 4G internet in Uganda!
“How come Soweto has the only LTE in Africa?” he asked.
Fans across the continent couldn’t stop making fun out of the question.
TheConstantine @ConstatoAsirvex: Must have been rocking so hard in Kenya, you didn’t look at your phone. We have LTE but the problem is our ISP steals your data. #Truestory.
Samuelokubal @treyzbal: You dint check out Bwaise Uganda.
Sanele Khawula @SaneleHKhawula: Obviously how can you get LTE on your Nokia 3310 Mobile.
Meh. @Uhnkle: Excuse me? U must have a bad roaming deal or whatever cuz we have LTE all over the country, for all the networks.
Kathmandupac 🇳🇵 @ryantrevors: I mean the technical answer is that it runs on different frequencies but Pretoria had 4G poppin when I was there.
Spin Master! 🏾 @DjFreeskie: That is South Africa not the whole of Africa! Nigeria is in Africa and we have LTE bro.
Doug Flutie @Moorsound: We got LTE in Ghana. Come through
Where are you reading this from, do you have 4G there?
