Opposition Parties and politicians have resolved to front independent candidate Kassiano Wadri in the forth coming Arua municipality by-election slated for this month.
The task to reach onto a unanimous candidate for Arua by- election began early this month at Democratic party (DP) President General Norbert Mao’s residence in Pece, Gulu district however opposition politicians have been meeting for a single candidate in a hotly contested race.
Remarking at Speke hotel, former presidential candidate and president general for peoples development party (PDP) Abed Bwanika said they are convinced that Mr Wadri is the only person who can represent Arua municipality and the people of west Nile who requires representation.
In a bid to build a block that can cause change, Abed said they considered Wadri who has withered storm in Ugandan politics is the only capable candidate to represent Arua municipality.
Jinja east MP Paul Mwiru said they had to come together for a joint candidate as they did in Jinja.
“Even when we said we decided to deliver it ourselves, voters united in the ballot box and surprised us in Bugiri municipality endorsing Asuman Basalirwa to represent them in August house, the only way to deliver an apology is by winning Arua municipality parliamentary seat,” he said.
Despite fronting of Kassiano Wadri, Forum for democratic change (FDC) is backing Francis Gonna Arthur for Arua parliamentary seat. Recently in Bugiri by-election, FDC fronted its candidate Eunice Namatende after they failed to reach conscience for the joint candidate in the race.
Arua municipality parliamentary seat fell vacant after the gruesome gun down of National resistance movement (NRM) MP Ibrahim Abiriga, his body guard said Kongo executed by unknown hooded men travelling on motorcycles.
