The independent Presidential candidate Rtd Gen. Henry Tumukunde has warned the people of Teso over the government funding dubbed ‘Emyooga’ saying that this is aimed at hoodwinking people in this election season.
Tumukunde was campaigning in the Teso sub-region where he urged people to vote for him because he is the only credible candidate who will transform their way of living than being in card and play.
“Don’t get excited over the Emyooga cash because this is politics at play with all nothing,” he said adding that other previous programs like Youth livelihood fund Operation Wealth Creation have all yielded no tangible results in as far as promoting the lives of people as concerned.
Emyooga is a presidential initiative on wealth and job creation aimed at promoting saving culture and eradicating poverty among the Ugandans. According to the state minister for Microfinance, Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, the money will be given to organized and registered groups which are already saving.
The money will be given at constituencies level with each given 560 million, each 18 groups getting 30. The 18 beneficiaries include boda-boda riders, salon operators, journalists, veterans, Persons With Disabilities, among others.
