The former presidential candidate and leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert aka Bobi Wine has met with the newly elected Party Members of Parliament.

The meeting happened shortly after court ruling stopping security personnel from both the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) and Police from maintaining their presence at the MP’s home. Eagle Online can reliably confirm that the roadblocks and foot soldiers were withdrawn from the area.

The singer has been under house arrest since January 14th 2021 when he returned home from freedom square polling station. The newly elected MPs were led by the NUP vice chairman for Buganda Region Mathias Mpuga. The closed door meeting peddled at paving way forward after the general elections.

In his remarks, Bobi urged the various elected politicians not to disappoint voters noting that they are watching every move they take. “This is not time to celebrate, it’s time to begin a new chapter to liberate Uganda” he added

“I congratulate you for voting for me. We don’t see Mr. Yoweri Museveni as the president of Uganda, the president you voted for is here and that is Me,” he said.

“The people of Uganda are relying on us, they voted for us and we must not disappoint them. While you take up these offices you need to remember that you are servants to the people,” he said.

During the meeting a police chopper was seen hovering over Bobi Wine’s home, an indication that security agencies are closely monitoring the singer’s moves.

On the 16th January 2021, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) Justice Simon Byabakama declared that the singer lost the election to the incumbent Yoweri Museveni who got 58.64% of the total vote. He said Bobi Wine has garnered 34.83% of the total vote.
