Housing Finance Bank has committed Shs80 million towards the eighth edition of the NSSF Kampala Hills Run, supporting efforts to improve learning conditions in public schools across Uganda.

The contribution forms part of NSSF’s partnership with corporate organisations to raise Shs1.5 billion for the renovation of 10 public schools. The initiative will focus on improving school infrastructure, sanitation and access to digital literacy opportunities.

The run was officially launched on November 2, 2026, at the NSSF Head Office in Kampala and is scheduled for Sunday December 6, 2026, at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Speaking at the launch, Housing Finance Bank Managing Director, Mr. Michael K. Mugabi, said the Bank’s sustainability approach aligns with NSSF’s focus on education and job creation.

“At Housing Finance Bank, our commitment to financing homes and businesses also means investing in the environments where children learn, grow and prepare for the future,”  Mugabi said.

He highlighted education as a foundation for financial inclusion, noting that the knowledge and skills children acquire in school shape their future opportunities and contribution to the economy.

NSSF Managing Director Patrick Ayota said the run complements government efforts to improve education infrastructure, noting that the need across the country remains substantial.

“We are aware that the government has devoted some resources to improving the infrastructure, but the need is enormous. With support from our partners and the public, we hope to raise about Shs1 billion to renovate about 10 public schools across the country,” Mr. Ayota said.

Mr. Ayota also identified access to quality education as a key part of NSSF’s sustainability agenda, which integrates social and environmental needs into the Fund’s business strategy.

“Previous editions of the Kampala Hills Run have supported renovations in 25 public primary schools, benefiting more than 40,000 students every school day. According to NSSF, the interventions have contributed to a 12 per cent increase in enrolment and a 10 per cent reduction in dropout rates at beneficiary schools,” said Ayota.

Housing Finance Bank joins NSSF and other partners such as MTN, Aquafina, Next Media, in encouraging individuals and organisations to participate in this year’s run and support efforts to improve learning conditions for children across Uganda.
