Senior government officials are starting a two day retreat in Kampala on Monday, 21st March 2016, to review performance of various ministries, departments and agencies, and devise ways of improving service delivery.
The retreat, to be attended by ministers, permanent secretaries, heads of government agencies and local government leaders such as Chief Administrative Officers, RDCs and Town Clerks, is organised by the Office of The Prime Minister.
“This retreat is organised to take stock of government performance from July to December 2015. We would like to ensure that the bottlenecks standing in the way of delivering services to the wanainchi are promptly identified and removed so that our people receive the services they so much deserve,” Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda says.
The Office of Prime Minister is required to coordinate implementation of Government programmes and policies across Ministries, and report to Cabinet every six months.
During the retreat, The Government Half-Annual Performance Report (GHAPR) will be released.
The half yearly performance reviews were introduced by Government in 2009 as part of broader Government reforms to strengthen management of public services and public, and to respond to concerns of weak service delivery mechanisms in Government.
