The High Court has thrown out Masindi Municipality MP Ernest Kiiza, following a petition filed by Beatrice Kabakumba Matsiko.
Ms Matsiko, a former Minister for the Presidency, was the MP for Bujenje County in the 8th Parliament, while Mr Kiiza is the current Minister in charge of Bunyoro Affairs. The two faced off in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries, and Mr Kiiza trounced Ms Matsiko.
Mr Kiiza becomes the second minister and 18th legislator to be thrown out of the 10th Parliament.
In an earlier ruling, the Lira High Court judge Jessica Naiga Ayebazibwe threw out Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola, the State Minister for Defence and Oyam North MP for lack of requisite academic qualifications to be MP.
