The Mbale High Court on Monday nullified the election of Kibuku MP Tom Herbert Kinobere in favour of Godfrey Wairagara Kamba on grounds that the former lacks academic papers. Kinobere was also found guilty of vote stuffing during the February 18th parliamentary elections in the eastern district of Kibuku.
The two are fighting to succeed long-serving Kibuku legislator Lt Saleh Kamba, who been area MP for over 10 years. The prominent legislator was one time and was one time named State Minister for Bunyoro Affairs, but was rejected by the parliament’s appointment committee folack of the requisite academic qualifications.
Meanwhile, earlier on Monday, there was jubilation at Soroti High Court, Alice Alaso Asianut, was declared winner of a petition case against the newly-elected Serere District Woman Member of Parliament Hellen Adoa (NRM).
“Court found out that there was fraudulent distribution of sugar, soap and salt across the constituency coupled with the use of government motor vehicles taken to every rally,” the verdict by Soroti Chief Magistrate, Ruth Nabaasa read.
Meanwhile, court also dismissed the election petition of Nakapiripirit District Woman Member of Parliament.
Court found out that the court petition logged by Nakapiripirit former Woman MP, Rose Iriama against the newly elected woman MP Esther Davinia Anyakun could not overturn the results and the elections.
