The government has issued a new salary structure for top officials indicating a hefty increment.
In a circular referenced as No 1 of 2017, and titled salary enhancement for Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice, Head of Public Service, Deputy Head of Public Service and Permanent Secretaries, all the above categories will receive a salary increment effectively January.
In the new proposal, the Chief Justice will receive Shs20 million away from Shs11million. While his Deputy will get Shs18 million away from Shs10 million.
The head of Public Service who doubles as Secretary to Cabinet will get Shs17 million away from Shs4 million. The Deputy Head of Public Service will get Shs15 million away from Shs4 million.
All the Permanent Secretaries will who have been getting Shs3.7 million are to get Shs15.4 in the new structure.
“The salary enhancement takes effect on January 1, 2017. You are required to utilize the resources within your votes and where inadequate, further guidance will be provided by the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury” Ms Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwire, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Service wrote.
