Former FDC presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye has contested for presidency on four occasions.
Three of these elections were supervised by Eng. Badru Kiggundu, the former chairman of the Electoral Commission and Besigye says he won on all occasions but that Kiggundu always denied him the victory.
In fact, last November, as Kiggundu’s mandate as EC boss expired, Besigye called for the latter’s arrest; the presidential candidate wanted Kiggundu charged with treason for organisng what he described as sham elections and consistently declaring Yoweri Museveni as the President of Uganda.
But that was last year: when the two met over the weekend at the Dua of former Mufti Sheikh Hussein Rajab Mukasa Kakooza, who is the Head of Sharia at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, the two appeared to be comfortable in the presence of each other. They did not only share jokes but also shared meals as well.
Ugandans have reacted to the meeting of the two leaders.
Rutahwaire Anthony;Â Mwaana even by mere mention of that name, I feel my stomach ache. In fact KB is a good person. I don’t know where he gets the courage to smile back to this thief.
Ambrose Carson Ahabwe U assure him how the heaven is for the righteous not evil thinking and dreadful Kiggundu.
Mbaraka Zuberi Ewangu But #Kiggundu is not the first person for #Besigye to meet and greet with a smiling face, The President is just naturally a forgiving person. How many times has he met #Kayihura and greeted him with a smiling face.
Kagimu Yusuf Spot on, Sam Rwakoojo was the real boss @ E.C, Kiggundu was just a mere office messenger.
However, one came in defense of Kiggundu.
Sadam Ssenoga You fools, he was the only 1 among 100 war men.
