The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) will later this year hold elections for its party president, to replace Major General John Gregory Mugisha Muntu.
Addressing a press conference at the party hesdquarters today, the FDC Deputy Secretary Harold Kaija said the elections will take place during the party’s delegates conference on November 2, after which the newly-elected leader will be sworn in on November 3.
According to Kaija, those interested in contesting can pick forms between July 10 and August 12, then return them between August 14 and 15.
Maj. Gen. Muntu has been FDC president for the last five years beginning November 2012, having replaced the founding party president Dr. Warren Kizza Besigye.
Both bush war veterans, Muntu and Besigye are vehemently opposed to their former Commander-in-Chief General Yoweri Museveni, who has now been in power for 31 years.
