Must read

BBS Telefayina, the Buganda Kingdom-owned TV station has partnered with Nigerian actors to produce a cancer-awareness movie.

BBS Telefayina CEO Joseph Kigozi said the film will be premiered in Nigeria before being screened in Uganda, with the BBS Telefayina the first to broadcast the movie, produced by Universal Movie and Television School, a Nigeria movie-making company based in Uganda.

“This is a cancer awareness movie and we appreciate all those who have contributed tremendous efforts towards the fight against cancer and it will feature some BBS staff,” Kigozi said, adding that the primary objective of the station is to entertain and educate viewers.

He also said the TV station will have a series of weekly drama shows for about six months.

“We want to communicate this cancerous disease in a different way. Other than talk shows and adverts, this will be a milestone with a changed concept,” he said.

In a related incidence, another movie that details the sickle cell anaemia will also be produced by BBS Telefayina in a bid to help the people living with sickle cells.

The government of Uganda has been partnering with the Buganda Kingdom through different health campaigns like Kabaka’s Birthday Run for cancer, fistula and sickle cells which will be on for two more years, health minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng said while addressing people at Kabaka’s Birthday Run on April 9.
