Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), Commander Frank Mwesigwa

Over 100 suspected criminals have been arrested in the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), the area commander Frank Mwesigwa has said, adding that 92 of those arrested were charged with murder and aggravated robbery.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Mwesigwa, who displayed a number of tools that were allegedly used by the suspects to terrorize people in Kampala, told journalists today that the swoop followed the launch of 45 days operations ordered by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Kale Kayihura, aimed restoring peace and getting rid of criminals in the city.

Among the tools that were displayed were an axe, iron bars, hammers, an AK47 rifle and a revolver pistol, with the KMP boss saying that most of the criminals were arrested from among other areas Bwaise, Kira and Kawempe.
