Butebo: Justine Kasule Lumumba the secretary General of the ruling National Resistance Movement has lashed at her party members who are tearing the party apart through infighting and bickery.
In the NRM, Lumumba said, it is unconstitutional and misbehaviour for a member to turn against another.
Lumumba also warned NRM members to desist from the tendency of abandoning their flag bearers and end up supporting their opponents.
“Supporting and Voting for independent or opposition candidates against official NRM Flag Bearers weakens our party,” she said.
The Secretary General was on Saturday addressing over 400 party leaders in the newly created Butebo district at Petete College ahead of their LCV chairperson elections set to take place on Thursday June 28, 2018.
The race has only two candidates, both of whom participated in the NRM primaries.
“But my message is not only for the people of Butebo but for all our party members countrywide. The indiscipline of supporting independents and opposition candidates as well as well bickering one another is not good at all,” she stressed.
Lumumba officially introduced Samuel Keddi as the official NRM candidate and lectured him on good governance when he wins the seat.
She said the new districts are partly gazetted to create employment and bring the services nearer to people.
“When u get into office, avoid deployment of corrupt people more especially on the District Service Commission” she pleaded to cheers from her audience.
Lumumba said Butebo people should find pride in their new district and should not be asked for bribes to earn working positions.
Dr. Kenneth Omona who travelled with the SG reminded the Butebo people to maintain their loyalty to the NRM government for further developments.
The meeting was graced by the party’s Director of Finance and Administration Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango among other Secretariat staff, MPs and security leaders.
