The newly reappointed Chairman of the Makindye General Court Martial, Gen Andrew Gutti has been sworn in along with other members that constitute the bench of that court.
Gen. Gutti was reappointed Chairman of the Court in mid June by president Yoweri Museveni for his second term.
Gutti took the oath alongside other members that included; Brig. Joseph Arocha, Maj. Henry Serugo, Maj. Sarah Navuga, Capt. Teopista Girama Opar, Capt. Paul Mugerwa, Col. James Rubahika and Maj. DM Karyabashesha.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in the presence of the members of the public, press as well as all the accused persons scheduled to appear in this court today
Meanwhile a new judge advocate is Col. Richard Tukachungurwa. He replaces Col. Gideon Katinda.
Maj. Raphael Mugisha comes in as the Lead Prosecutor. Other prosecutors are; Capt. Samuel Maserejje and Ambrose Baguma.
Maj. John Bizimana is the new Court Registrar while Capt. Charles Sekayita is the new Defense Counsel.
After the function, business resumed as usual with hearing of the cases and adjourning those which were for mention
The court is handling a number of criminal cases. For instance that of Abdullah Kitatta the Boda Boda 2010 Patron, SSP Nixon Agasirwe, ACP Joel Aguma and others who are accused of kidnapping some Rwandan nationals seeking refugee in Uganda.
Former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura is could appear befor Gen. Gutti when investigations against him are completed.
