Ugandan businessman Sudhir Ruparelia has received his first dose of the vaccine against #Covid-19.
Sudhir received the AstraZeneca vaccine today from UMC Victoria Hospital, the first private hospital to be accredited by the Ministry of Health to administer the vaccines.
He joins the accumulating number of Ugandans who have already taken the Covid jab.
Sudhir is the founder and Chairman of the Ruparelia Group of companies. He is also the Honorary Consul of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal to Uganda.
Uganda kicked off Covid-19 vaccination on March 10 and the Minister for Health Jane Ruth Aceng was the first to be vaccinated at Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital.
Through the Ministry of Health, Uganda received 864,000 doses of the AstraZeneca #Covid-19 vaccine from COVAX facility and an additional 100,000 doses donated by the government of India.
Uganda rolled out free Covid vaccination in a staggered manner starting with the health workers and encouraged citizens to get vaccinated saying the vaccine is very safe and effective.
