Victoria University vaccinates students, staff against #Covid-19

Must read

Victoria University has decided to vaccinate all its students and the staff against Covid-19 as a primary responsibility to keep its stakeholders healthy following the rise in the number of positive cases recorded daily.

The University management took the step to vaccinate as they don’t want to see the institution closed because of Covid-19.

”We are vaccinating all our students and staff because we have a primary responsibility to keep our stakeholders healthy,” said Dr. Lawrence Muganga, the acting Vice-Chancellor.

“Our students and staff have become safer as well as their families and communities. We are proud of ourselves,” he said.

He said 80 percent of the students have been vaccinated at the university premises as well as 97 percent of the staff.

“We don’t plan to sack anyone who refuses to be vaccinated but those who don’t will work from home,” Dr. Muganga added.

The Ministry of Health organised a mass Covid-19 vaccination camp at Kololo Independence Grounds to increase access to vaccine and tame the surge.

President Museveni said he would open the country fully if 4.4 million Ugandans are vaccinated.
