KOBOKO — Fighting among suspected armed groups in South Sudan has left one person dead and three others wounded, prompting fresh security concerns along the border with Uganda.

The clashes occurred in Morobo County, Central Equatoria State, at about 9 am on Thursday, according to Koboko Deputy Resident District Commissioner Hajji Marijani Wailaire.
Wailaire said three people sustained gunshot wounds during the fighting, with some of the injured crossing into Uganda for medical assistance.

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) evacuated some of the wounded to Koboko Hospital for treatment.
Authorities in Koboko have urged residents to avoid crossing into South Sudan until the security situation improves.

Morobo County borders Uganda’s Koboko District and has experienced recurring clashes involving armed groups. The latest fighting has raised concerns about the protection of civilians and the safety of communities living near the international boundary.
Ugandan security agencies are monitoring the situation.

As of Thursday evening, the identities of the person killed and those wounded, along with the specific groups involved in the fighting, had not been independently confirmed.
