Faridah Nakizibwe hands in resignation at NTV

QUITTING-NTV long serving news reader, Faridah Nakazibwe.

For a very longtime NTV news anchor, Faridah Nakazibwe has been rumoured to have quit Serena Hotel Conference Centre based station for another one but on all occasions it has turned out to be just speculations.

However, that might not be the case this time.

According to our sources at the Serena Conference center station, the ‘Akawungezi’ news anchor and ‘NTV Mwasuze Mutya’ presenter has already handed in her resignation letter to the station’s management.

But contrary to several reports linking her to a move to Buganda owned BBS TV, she indicates in her resignation letter that she wants to concentrate on her own businesses.

Though none of her businesses is known to public at the moment, what we are aware of is, she has found new love and will be wedding soon.

It’s believed that she will be in charge of the businesses of his husband to be. Meanwhile, earlier reports had suggested that she was relocating to BBS after the Masengere-based station tabled a juicy offer for her.

Nakazibwe is one of the longest serving staff at NTV after she quit struggling WBS TV.

Socialite Onyango accused of ‘pimping wife’ Nikita to city tycoons

City socialite Gareth Onyango and 'wife' Nikita Bachu

Former Club Venom manager, Gareth Onyango, has been accused of being a pimp. But unlike other pimps, he is a pimp for his wife, according to some of the people in his social circles.

One person who identified himself as Busungu Daniel alleges that Gareth, now working with Cayenne Bar in Bukoto, has been hooking his girlfriend Nikita Bachu to rich city businessmen.

“You and Mrs Nickita Bachu are blood sucking, shameless, undisciplined, ill mannered prodigal daughter of a Bachu family in Kabale started this deal of selling Bachu’s p*** to rich men. Please don’t blame your stupidity on us my dear. You started this, I believe your current deal of detoothing Mr Jimmy, a businessman in Kampala has finally fallen on dead ground,” Daniel states in a statement that has since gone viral on social media.

“You sold her to Mr Sean Kijjambu for a mere bottle of Jameson whiskey. You sold her to Mr Ham Mitala a loan shark in Kampala and also the father of the young daughter you claim to be your child. Also your buddies from a well known pussy hunting YOLO group have enjoyed her in exchange for cheap whiskeys.

“You are very well aware that the Bachu family in Kabale hates you for disgracing their family as you continue to use their daughter to detooth rich men in Kampala and the neighbouring Juba, Nairobi, Mombasa and even overseas in China and Dubai. You have also used Cayenne bar located in Bukoto where you and your blood sucker Nickita set your targets on rich young men.”

YOLO is a whatsapp group which was created by Gareth and majority of the members are either bar managers and owners.

According to one of the members of the group who asked us not to reveal his identity, at one time Gareth boasted on his group that no member on his group could have sex with his wife (Nikita).

“But within just days, some members had started posting photos of themselves having sex with Nikita,” he says.

This comes at a time when Nikita and Gareth just got back together. The couple, which has been dating for a long time, and blessed with a daughter, had bitterly separated early this year.

A major highlight of the festival was the revival of Kadongo Kamu, Uganda’s oldest music genre which had died out due to emergence of popular genres such as Hip Hop, RnB and Afro pop. One may argue that this can be attributed to the cash injection by new sponsor, Bell Lager.

Katongole Omutongole responds to Titie’s ‘wedding’ by introducing another man’s ‘wife’

INTRODUCED: Dennis Katongole 'Omutongole' introduced Asmart on Saturday.

NBS TV and CBS radio presenter, Titie Tabel popularly known as Lady Titie, was officially stolen from Delta TV’s Denis Katongole ‘Omutongole’ on Saturday when she ‘wedded’ Deo Serunjogi.

Katongole Omutongole, who is still legally married to Titie, had vowed to block the wedding but he didn’t succeed as it was held in secrecy.

In what appears to be an act of getting back at Titie, Katongole Omutongole also introduced another lady only identified as Asmart.

Katongole and Titie have been together for a while and even had their wedding in 2010. They have three children together. Though the two separated last year shortly after Katongole, then presenting at Bukedde TV, was arrested on allegations of defiling a senior two student.

Titie has since been living with Serunjogi, whom she hooked shortly after her separation with Katongole. One the other hand, Katongole has been living a single life, hoping Titie would one day return home.

But on confirmation of her wedding with Serunjogi, he too rushed to introduce Asmart. However, we have learnt Asmart is in a relationship with another man, a one Matovu, who is on ‘Kyeyo’ in Dubai.

On learning about the introduction, Matovu has warned Katongole off Asmart, saying she is already engaged to him.

“……….of the married ladies you’ve messed with, this time you messed with a wrong person. You should have used the money you wasted on the introduction to fishing because that is my wife,” he responded via Facebook.

He vowed to teach the Beat FM presenter a lesson once he gets back to Uganda.

According to sources Esco hooked up US-based Ugandan socialite popularly known as Princess Deyonce and the latter reportedly spent most of his time in the US at Deyonce’s place.

Sadly, he had to leave after just a week following the end of the Ugandan North American Association (UNAA) conference. He returned to Uganda last week but according to his close friends, the two are set to wed in December.

Apparently the lady, who is said to be missing Esco already, is set to be in the country by September 20 to kick start preparations for their introduction and wedding. She will also briefly host a party at a city club during her stay in the country.

It ought to be remembered that Esco is already engaged to Galaxy FM presenter and Club Amnesia PR, Haffy Nabanjja. The two have been staying together for close to two years now.

SA agrees to take in Machar, as Kenyatta skips UNGA

REGIONAL SOLUTION: President Uhuru Kenyatta shares a light moment with former South Sudan Vice President Dr Riek Machar. Mr Uhuru will miss the UN General Assembly in New York while trying to among others, find a solution to Machar's resettlement.

The South African government has allowed to host former South Sudan Vice President Riek Machar, who fled his country after falling out with President Salva Kiir.

The development comes in the wake of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta failing to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, ostensibly to address prickly regional political matters, including the resettlement of Machar.

According to President Kenyatta’s Communications chief Manoah Esipisu, the President stayed home to follow up on the recent decisions adopted by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), in relation to the shaky political situations in Somalia and South Sudan.

‘Following the Igad meeting in Mogadishu, Somalia last week, there are a series of follow-up sessions that His Excellency needs to personally attend, given that Kenya is a senior player in the region alongside Ethiopia,’ Mr Esipisu was quoted as saying.

He added: ‘Two, there is the delicate issue of where (former South Sudan vice President) Riek Machar should be placed. Currently he is holed up in Khartoum but there are ongoing deliberations, and very delicate ones for that matter, on where he should be eventually resettled. As you know, South Africa has agreed to take him in but there is a feeling that other options be looked into. That is why it was felt that His Excellency’s involvement in these matters is very essential’.

According to Mr Esipisu, Deputy President William Ruto will represent his boss at the UNGA.

Somalia and South Sudan are currently experiencing upheavals, with the latter enduring a two year civil war that has seen tens of thousands dead and over one million people displaced.

Similarly, Somalia has been endured over two decades of instability, forcing hundreds of thousands to flee.

Museveni donates Shs700 million to Tanzania quake victims

ASSISTANCE: President John Pombe Magufuli receives Mr Museveni's cash donation of US$200.000 from Tanazania Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.

President Yoweri Museveni seems to be eternally appreciative to Tanzania for having shaped his political career; he has donated US$200,000  (approx. UgShs700m) to aid victims of the 5.7 Richter scale earthquake that ravaged parts of Kagera region in northern Tanzania, killing 19, injuring about 300 people and destroying over 2000 houses.

President Museveni’s donation was announced by Tanzania Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, while he handed over the money to President John Pombe Magufuli over the weekend.

According to President Magufuli, the donation from his counterpart Museveni will be used to repair damaged public facilities and to offer relief services to those affected by the quake that also rippled through the other East African countries.

A political science graduate of Dar es Salaam University, Mr Museveni spent considerable time in Tanzania during his days in exile. In 2007 he also reportedly contributed US$932, 823 (approx. 3.26 billion currently), to the construction of two secondary schools in Muhutwe, northern Tanzania, a development that attracted the attention of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee to initiate investigations into the donation.

Meanwhile, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has also contributed building materials worth US$ 50, 000 to aid the victims of last Saturday’s quake in Tanzania.

Kijuu said that all the donation received will be distributed to the affected people while begging for more support to rebuild the region.

KCB linked to money laundering in South Sudan

The Kenya Commercial Bank branch in Wau, South Sudan

The Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) has been linked to money laundering by corrupt government officials in South Sudan, including senior military leaders sanctioned by the United Nations in the wake of the civil war which erupted in December 2013.

The US-based The Sentry organization in its report released in Washington after a two-year investigation into corruption in South Sudan, money movement and assets locations, found that the Kenya Commercial Bank has taken part in transferring the stolen money outside of South Sudan by government’s corrupt officials.

Among the senior army generals in South Sudan which the report named as conducting illegal money transfers to his personal bank account in the Kenyan bank is General Gabriel Jok Riak, who had been transferring hundreds of thousands of US dollars yet his monthly salary is less than $3,000 dollars, or only about $35,000 a year.

General Riak, commander of Sector One, which includes Divisions 3, 4, and 5, of the South Sudan’s army, the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), has been under the United Nations sanctions for his brutal role in the civil war and all his assets have been frozen and he is banned from travelling to another country.

“Specifically, Gen. Jok Riak had command authority over a full-scale 2015 offensive across three states in violation of multiple ceasefires, and resulting in the displacement of over 100,000 people and the commission of grave war crimes,” said The Sentry report, titled ‘War Crimes Shouldn’t Pay.’

Eyewitness accounts, it said, collected by Human Rights Watch have detailed the conduct of soldiers deployed with Sector One, describing elderly women beaten to death, sexual violence, looting, and destruction committed under his command.

However, the General had been transferring huge sums of money through the KCB in the money laundering business.

“Bank records reviewed by The Sentry indicate that Gen. Jok Riak received large financial transfers totaling at least $367,000 to his personal bank account at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) from February to December 2014 alone—sums that dwarf his official annual salary of about $35, 000,” The Sentry report revealed.

According to The Sentry report, records of payments totaling $49,000 came from an individual who shares a name with an individual who then served as advisor in the Office of the President, while an additional $308,524.10 came from Dalbit International, a Kenyan multinational corporation operating in South Sudan that is one of the country’s largest petroleum and fuel companies.

It is not clear whether or not the army commander under the UN sanctions has had the money frozen per the UN sanctions, or still keeps his bank account active in the Kenyan bank in noncompliance.

Another top army official in South Sudan who conducted illegal money transfers through the Kenya Commercial Bank is General Reuben Riak Rengu, who the report investigation revealed was directly involved in procuring weapons and planning military offensives but also is involved in a wide range of commercial ventures and has received substantial payments from multinational firms from at least three countries that operate in South Sudan.

In January 2013, President Salva Kiir promoted Reuben Riak to Lieutenant General in the army, and nominated him as SPLA deputy chief of staff for logistics, effectively making him the army’s primary interlocutor with foreign weapons vendors.

“Although Gen. Reuben Riak’s official annual salary is about $32,000, information obtained by The Sentry suggests that he is living well beyond what such a salary would support and appears to have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments from numerous multinational companies active in South Sudan,” the report revealed.

General Reuben Riak has illegally transferred to his personal bank account at the Kenya Commercial Bank millions of US dollars, despite having a salary of less than $3,000 dollars a month.

“Documents reviewed by The Sentry show $3.03 million moving through Gen. Reuben Riak’s personal bank account—a U.S.-dollar denominated account at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)—between January 2012 and early 2016,” the report further revealed.

The transactions recorded, it said, include more than $700,000 in cash deposits and large payments from several international construction companies operating in South Sudan.

Additionally, the report showed that over this four-year period, 1.16 million US dollars in cash was withdrawn from his KCB account.

The report further revealed documented proof that General Reuben and many of his children have shares in companies operating in South Sudan.
