The Office of the Prime Minister has received an assortment of office equipment, donated by the Chinese Government. The equipment was procured within the framework of the bi-lateral cooperation existing between the two sister countries.
The equipment was handed over to the Minister for General Duties ProfessorTarsisKabwegyere, by the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda H.E. Zhao Yali. The handover ceremony,held at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala, was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary Christine GuwatuddeKintu among others.The equipment worth millions of shillings included flat screen T.V sets, IPADS, a camera, Printers, Projector Screens and scanners.
On behalf of Government, Professor Kabwegyere thanked the Chinese government for the donation, which he described as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two states. ‘China is one of the leading economies in the world and therefore Uganda stands to benefit if it continues with its bilateral cooperation with China’, he noted.
Kabwegerye noted that the Public Service needs to be efficient and therefore donating such equipment will greatly contribute to the efficiency in the Office of the Prime Minister.
On his part, the Chinese Ambassador H.E Zhao Yalipledged his government’s commitment to strengthen the cooperation with Uganda Government. ‘China will endeavor to assist government and the people of Uganda to transform and industrialize the country’, he said.
