Ugandans have so far raised Shs324,603,399 in a fundraising drive to raise more funds to treat Ms Carol Atuhirwe, who needs Shs270m to undergo intensive medical examination in the US.
Mr Muhereza Kyamutetera, the coordinator of the ‘SaveCarol Campaign’ and chairperson of committee, said Ugandans had contributed kindly to Ms Atuhirwe’s cause after a five-year battle.
“Thank you Uganda, the #SaveCarol campaign has so far raised Shs324,603,399. This is Shs54 million above our estimated need of Shs270 million. We are now in final consultations with doctors on the final treatment and travel details as well as final costs. All remaining funds, Atuhirwe Carol has advised be given to Uganda Cancer Institute,” he revealed.

Recently, FDC presidential candidate Kizza Besigye joined well-wishers in a car wash at Panamera Bar and Restaurant to raise more funds.
According to Mr Kyamutetera, Ms Atuhirwe is currently unable to talk and feeds through a tube but is able to communicate through writing.
She however against all odds on Wednesday morning made it to All Saints Church in Nakersero for a thanksgiving and dedication service organized in her memory.
