Renowned dancehall musician, Vampino real name Elvis Kirya has come out to mourn Professor Lawrence Mukiibi, a person he has called his biggest fan.
Vampino has joined the tens of children and women that have come forward to mourn the deceased Principal of the St Lawrence Schools and colleges, and speaking Thursday, the musician said he was saddened by Mukiibi’s death because the latter had been the biggest fan of his song ‘Smart Wire’.
“RIP professor Mukibi. Ehh but you really liked my song smartwire….big hit…wish I met u before,” the father of three posted on social media.
Vampino describes the song as a fairly fast-paced dancehall beat that is rooted in the fact that we live in an era that is all about connection, “which is evident in the way we look for ‘smart wires’/smartphone chargers whenever we are running low on battery so that we can stay connected.”
He also used the platform to crown the deceased as the ‘King of dance hole’.
Mukiibi succumbed to cardiac arrest last week and was buried on Friday. At the time of his death, he had allegedly fathered over 100 children, some with his students, an act that has been condemned by the Uganda National Teacher’s Union (UNATU).
