OFF WE GO! The 'Ghetto Kids' pose with the Uganda and US national flags at Entebbe International Airport shortly before their departure for the US

No Ugandan artiste has been nominated for this year’s BET Awards but for the first time ever, Uganda will have performers at the coveted awards.

We can reliably inform you that the ‘Triplets’ famously known as ‘Ghetto Kids’ are currently enroute to Los Angeles California, where they will perform at the awards.

“From Makindye Luwafu to Los Angeles/California U.S. to represent our country in BET AWARDS Performing live with French Montana,” they shared the good news with their fans before flying out of the country.

The group featured in French Montana’s latest video for his song, ‘Unforgettable’ in which he features Swae Lee.

The video was shot from Uganda this year and the artistes have been lined up among the performers at this year’s edition of BET Awards scheduled for next week.

The ‘Ghetto Kids’ rose to fame in 2014 after featuring in Eddy Kenzo’s dance video for his song ‘Sitya Loss’. The song went on to win a BET Award, the only award to have been won by an East African artiste.

Sadly, one of the original members of the group, Alex Ssempijja, died in an accident last year. He was knocked dead while riding a bicycle as his colleague Patricia Nabakooza was rushed to hospital when in a coma.

Fortunately, she is part of the group that travelled to the US.

Congs ‘Ghetto Kids’.
