National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Isaac Joackino Etuuka has been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Okollo Constituency, Upper Madi, Arua district.
Etuuka won with 10,075 votes as his rivals John Arumadri (FDC) got 1,174 votes and independent candidate Martin Drito got 1,223 votes.
But Mr. Drito has vowed to drag Etuuka to court again; to petition against the outcomes of the elections claiming that the elections has not been free and fair because the NRM candidate was denying them a chance to compete at the same level.
Etuuka’s election in the 2016 elections was nullified by the Court of Appeal by Justices Remmy Kasule, Richard Buteera and Alfonso Owiny Dollo on April 13, 2017, after faulting the Electoral Commission for wrongly nominating him.
The CA Judges also ordered the EC and Etuuka to pay costs the appellant John Arumadiru Drazu both at the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Independent candidate Drito said he would contest the results.
Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni, while helping to campaign for Etuuka, promised that the area will get three units of the recently procured road construction equipment.
