The Uganda women’s national football team, Crested Cranes have been drawn in group B for the 2019 2019 Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup.
The Crested Cranes were drawn with Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti while group A has hosts Tanzania, Zanzibar, Burundi and South Sudan.
The regional tournament is slated for November 14th to 23rd, and will be played at the Chamanzi Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
“We expect a very competitive event and such tournaments will continue to help the women footballers in region get more exposure at the international stage,” Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of Cecafa said.
“The top two teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the semifinals,” revealed Musonye. The semifinals will be played on November 21st, while the play-off for third place and final will be played on November 23rd.
Rwanda, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan will not take part in this year’s tournament.
Tanzania are the defending champions having won it last year in Rwanda.
Group A: Tanzania, Burundi, Zanzibar, South Sudan
Group B: Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti
