President Museveni has revealed that he tested negative of #Covid-19 after experiencing sore throat a few days ago.
Mr. Museveni said at National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party headquarters where he was nominated as chairperson and presidential flag bearer for the ruling party in the upcoming general election.
He said he was worried that he could have contracted the virus and was taking a lot of ginger and lemon before testing negative. He urged people to embrace standard operating procedures (SOPs) put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
“I am amazed at how some people mix up issues. Some people have been talking about business, money, jobs when the issue globally is life. We want to save life. This is the biggest challenge.” He said
Adding “If you wanted to see death, you have now seen. We have been begging you not to die. These two are enough to show you that #Covid-19 I real,” he said
Last week, the chairperson of the electoral commission of NRM, Dr. Tanga Odoi declared president Museveni as sole candidate after the former Makindye East MP John Ssimbwa who picked nomination forms failed to raise the required fees of Shs10 million for nomination.
“The NRM called for expression of interest forms, and no one was banned from picking forms for any position. The conditionality was that you follow the guidelines approved by the central executive committee (CEC).” Odoi said
“I can declare to you and to Ugandans that NRM has one contender for National Chairman and that is Yoweri Kaguta Museveni” he said adding that the nomination papers were picked by his lawyers and Personal Assistant and paid Shs10 million as nomination fees for each position.
