Bukooli Central MP and Vice Chairperson for National Resistance Movement (NRM) Caucus Solomon Silwanyi was been forced to leave Wafula Ogutu’s home where mourners had converged for the send off of his mother.
Upon arrival, mourners became rowdy and started confronting him for allegedly indulging in electoral fraud in the district. He tried to maneuver through to the tent however; mourners blocked him chanting that he should go. They started pushing and pulling him till went to his car and later sped off.
This is not the first time that Silwanyi was forced to leave the function, during Bugiri Municipality by-election in 2018, the MP was evacuate at Naluwerere polling station over allegations that he was armed with a pistol. Voters averred that the legislator stormed Naluwerere polling station bribing voters with money.
His presence however, attracted an angry mob that narrowly lynched him hadn’t he not pepper sprayed them and disappeared in the safety of police that escorted him out of the polling station.
