After almost a year of no action, the 2021 Uganda Rugby Premier League season kicks off this Saturday, March 6, 2021 at three different grounds.
This time, the league will be played in a single round robin format with ten (10) teams participating and will end in May 2021. Teams to take part in this league: Heathens, Kobs, Pirates, Impis, Jinja Hippos, Buffaloes, Warriors, Rhinos, Rams and Mongers.
The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) completed the government guidelines on Covid-19 having tested over 400 players and staff.
Heathens will take on Stanbic Black Pirates as the league opener at 4:00pm at Kyadondo while Impis will host Mongers at Makerere at 4:00pm. Toyota Buffaloes will host Rams at Kyadondo at 2:00pm while Rhinos host Kobs at Legends at 4:00pm.
The Uganda Rugby Union stated that there will be no relegation at the end of this tournament.
The Nile Special Stout sponsored league will take place for a period of 9 weeks. The tournament will be held with strict observation of the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures.
