Uganda Police Football Club striker Brian Muruli Mayanja has been named the Pilsner Uganda Premier League player for the month of February 2021 while Vipers SC head coach Fred Kajoba have been named as the best coach of the month.
The two were crowned at a ceremony held at Kati Kati Restaurant on Monday morning and each were rewarded with one million shillings from the awards sponsors Pilsner beer.
Muruli scored five league goals in February against Kyetume, Bright Stars, Vipers and BUL while Kajoba guided Vipers to 5 victories in 7 matches in which 2 ended in draws.
Muruli beat Express’ forward George Senkaaba and Vipers’ winger Paul Mucureezi to the accolade while Kajoba edged Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa and URA FC’s Sam Ssimbwa.
Kajoba’s Vipers beat Myda 7-0, Updf 1-0, Police 3-2, Bul 1-0, Onduparaka 3-1, and the drew 1-1 with Express and 2-2 with Kyetume.
Pilsner Lager entered into a partnership with the Uganda Premier League to award the competition’s best players and coaches.
The awards are named ‘Pilsner man of the match award’ and the monthly awards named ‘Pilsner player of the month award’ and ‘Pilsner coach of the month award’.
The Pilsner man of the match walks away with one hundred thousand shillings (Ugx 100,000) after every match while monthly winners one million shillings each.
