President is set to officiate at the launch three weeks training 200 of National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs-elect and 43 party-leaning independents who are camping at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi district.
The three weeks retreat which kicked off last week is aimed at equipping the leaders with tools of analysis, management ethics and also aspirations in what we should make our people given the competitive nature of the world we live in.
According to Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, the Director Information and Public Relations at NRM secretariat, the MPs have covered a number of topics including political economy ,the origin and organisation of man and some Kiswahili including the national anthem and the east African anthem in Kiswahili.
“The MPs are waiting with a lot of anticipation for the official opening and interacting with President Yoweri Museveni who is also national chairman as well as other participants and the instructors who will be joining the team for the two weeks,” he said.
This website has also learnt that the Central Executive Committee (CEC) members and the six members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) were invited for the retreat.
He urged MPs-elect not to abandon their people, “Five years is not a long time, and they should stay close to the people they lead. They should, however, not carry the burden of the constituency on their shoulders. Let them work together with the government to ensure the welfare of the people. That is the only way they can be sure of their re-election in the next parliament,” he added.
