The Uganda men’s senior national basketball team, Silverbacks will kick-off their AfroBasket campaign on Wednesday evening in Kigali against Senegal in Group D.
Uganda, ranked 13th in Africa were drawn in Group D with Senegal, Cameroon and South Sudan.
In the second game on Friday, the Silverbacks will take on Cameroon before completing the group on Sunday against neighbours South Sudan.
Defending champions Tunisia triumphed over Guinea 82-46 in the opening game of the continental showpiece. Egypt also began their FIBA basketball campaign with a 72-56 victory over the Central African Republic at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda.
There are four groups and the top teams from the groups will go straight to the semis while the second and third enter a playoff for slots in the quarters. The last team in the group will automatically be sent home.
