KAMPALA-President Yoweri Museveni will give the keynote address at the forthcoming 2nd Uganda International Oil and Gas summit that will take place at the Kampala Serena between November 22 and 23, 2016.
The summit is being hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development at the behest of Minister, Eng. Irene Muloni, and comes at a time as Uganda moves towards commercial oil production, with major projects under discussions. Major oil operators in Uganda that include CNOOC, Total and Tullow are all contributing to the programme in addition to Uganda’s National Oil Company. The summit will discuss and debate the future of oil and gas exploration and production in Uganda. ‘This is a timely meeting for senior policy makers, global investors, oil and gas companies, lawyers, consultants and other stakeholders to find out more about the state of exploration and production as it is now and what challenges and opportunities lie ahead,’ a release indicates. Further, according to the release, the summit will feature presentations from oil and gas industry leaders and experts in their respective fields from across the world. The summit is held alongside a special focus event hosted by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers who have selected Uganda to host its annual meeting given its pivotal position in the region. |
