Uganda is set to join the rest of the world in the commemoration of World Hearing Day that will be held at Kampala Capital City (KCCA) grounds Lugogo.
World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. Each year, WHO decides the theme and develops a brochure on the topic based on the best available evidence as well as advocacy materials such as posters, banners, infographics and presentations, among others.
According to Ambrose Ainebyona, the spokesperson of the ministry of health, the function will be held under the theme ‘Check your Hearing’ peddled at showing the importance of early identification and intervention for hearing loss.
“Key among the activities to mark the day on Sunday 3 March 2019 include Screening Camps, treatment and where possible hearing aids will be given to beneficiaries,” said Mr. Ambrose Ainebyona.
Alluding to WHO, in recent years, an increasing number of Member States and other partner agencies have joined World Hearing Day by hosting a range of activities and events in their countries.
“Materials are shared with partners in government and civil society around the world as well as WHO colleagues across the Organization. At its headquarters in Geneva, WHO organizes an annual World Hearing Day seminar?” reads WHO’s statement.
