Uganda thumped Burundi 6-0 in the semifinals to set up a date with Kenya in the final of the Cecafa U15 tournament in Eritrea. A brace from Travis Mutyaba, Devis Ogwal, Abasi Kyeyune, Godfrey Ssekibengo and skipper Vincent Mulema were enough to put the junior cranes in the final. From the group stage, Uganda topped group B with 12 points, scoring 13 goals in four matches without conceding and now remain favorites to win the trophy. In the other semifinal, Kenya defeated Rwanda 4-2 in penalties after a one-all draw in normal regulation time. The inaugural tournament is to help the region prepare for the Under 17 AFCON qualifiers that start early next year. It will also help reduce on age-cheating in the under-age group tournaments in the Eastern region. The 2019 event has been sponsored by the FIFA Forward Programme initiative. The final will be graced by the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad on Friday 30th August at the Asmara Stadium.
