The Uganda Premier League secretariat and the sixteen clubs have confirmed receiving the FIFA Covid-19 relief funds from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
As promised and allocated, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) clubs received a combined total of Shs 527m.
Each club received an equal share of the money totaling to UGX 32,920,000 while the Secretariat received Shs52 million part of which was an extension from Fufa offers.
UPL CEO Bernard Bainamani said its relief as the Secretariat will be used to offset a few salaries, rent and outstanding overheads at the secretariat.
“It’s a big relief to the secretariat and we shall use it for a few salaries and other outstanding overhead costs,” said Bainamani according to the UPL website.
Others to receive the FIFA COVID-19 relief fund from Fufa include; Special Interest Groups (SIGS) who received UGX 105,000,000 while the eight member Regions have received UGX 160,000,000.
Beach Soccer clubs received UGX 22,000,000, Futsal clubs received UGX 16,000,000 while Fourth Division clubs moved away with UGX 90,500,000.
Youths national teams have been given UGX 100,000,000 while UGX 176,780,000 has been set aside for the restart of competitions.
