Housing Finance Bank, WaterQuip Uganda partner to deliver clean water to St. Joseph’s Nursery and Primary School, Nansana

Must read

Access to safe and clean water has been improved through a collaboration between Housing Finance Bank (HFB) and WaterQuip Uganda Limited, with the installation of a water purification system installed at St. Joseph’s Nursery and Primary School in Nansana.

This initiative is part of the Bank’s Water Supply and Sanitation Solution, aimed at promoting access to safe water, improved sanitation, and healthier environments across Uganda.

The intervention comes at a time when many schools and communities continue to face challenges related to access to clean and safe water. The Bank recognizes that a significant number of children suffer from preventable diseases such as typhoid, malaria, cough, and flu, which are often linked to poor sanitation and unsafe water sources. These health issues have affected school attendance and overall performance, particularly among young learners.

Through the Bank’s sustainability agenda, the Bank aims to address these challenges by ensuring that children can access clean drinking water within their school environment. The new purification system at St Joseph’s Nursery and Primary Scholl will provide safe water for over 900 pupils and staff members, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and supporting a healthier, more conducive learning environment. The system also stores up to 600 litres of clean water, ensuring that pupils and staff still have access even during power outages.

Our partnership with WaterQuip Uganda exemplifies how collaboration can create meaningful and lasting impact,” she stated.

Ms. Adrine Atumanya, CEO of WaterQuip Uganda Limited, emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing access to clean water and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): “Access to clean water is a fundamental human right. Through this partnership with Housing Finance Bank, we are ensuring that schools and communities can enjoy safe, purified water using sustainable technology. Together, we are advancing Uganda’s progress toward SDG 6, ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.”

The initiative aligns with Housing Finance Bank’s sustainability strategy, which prioritizes environmental stewardship, community well-being, and inclusive growth. Under the WASS (Water Supply & Sanitation Solution) umbrella, the Bank continues to implement projects that promote access to clean water, hygiene education, and environmentally conscious community development across Uganda.

Through strategic partnerships like this, Housing Finance Bank continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a healthier and more sustainable Uganda where every child can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment. By expanding access to its Water Supply and Sanitation Solution, the Bank is not only providing funding but also delivering integrated, affordable financing solutions in collaboration with expert partners.
