Yesterday June 15, 2015, BET Awards’ where launched  and Ugandan Afro-Beat singer Eddy Kenzo is  among those nominated.

The Black Entertainment Television (BET) (DStv channel 129 and GOtv channel 23) introduced a new fan-voted award category celebrating rising stars from across the channel’s international footprint: the Viewer’s Choice Best NEW International Artist.

Comprising three hot new artists from Africa and three new artists from the UK, the category will see Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Eddy Kenzo (Uganda), Mz Vee (Ghana) go up against George The Poet (UK), MIC Lowry (UK) and Novelist (UK).

Fans can vote for their favourite new artist at www.bet.com /Viewers Chioceintel and on Instagram @BET Africa using the hash tag ‪#‎ipick. Voting opens on yesterday at 1pm and will close on 27 June 27.

The BET Awards 2015 will premiere across Africa on BET (DStv channel 129) and BET2 (DStv channel 135) and on GOtv channel 23 on Tuesday June 30.
BET previously revealed that talented actors, comedic geniuses and on-screen co-stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross will be unleashing the good times as hosts of this year’s “BET Awards” 2015, taking place on Sunday June 28, at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

The BET Awards recognizes artists, entertainers, and athletes across 20 categories with the “BET Awards” 2015 nominations. The nominations are selected by BET’s voting academy, which is comprised of fans and an esteemed group of entertainment professionals in the fields of television, film, music, social media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and the creative arts.

Eight contemporary African artists have previously been nominated for Best International Act: Africa at this year’s prestigious awards ceremony. Representing  Africa are; Aka (South Africa), The Soil (South Africa), Wizkid (Nigeria),Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Sarkodie(Ghana), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Fally Ipupa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Sauti Sol (Kenya). In addition, Tanzanian supermodel Millen Magesehas been awarded the inaugural Global Good Award in recognition of her philanthropic efforts in Africa.
