Micho names 25-man squad ahead of CECAFA

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’Sredojevic has named aprovisional squad of 25 players to start preparations for the 2015 CECAFA Senior Challenge cup to be held in Ethiopia.

According to the Uganda football governing body, FUFA, the team started training yesterday with a one hour gym session at Acacia Mall then headed to Kampala Parents School for field work.

 

The squad that was announced yesterday during the FUFA weekly press conference at FUFA House in Mengo includes four goal keepers, ten defenders, six midfielders and five strikers, plying their trade at home and elsewhere.

Micho named James Alitho James and Ismail Watenga of Uganda premier league champions SC Vipers, Mathias Kigonyaof Bright Stars FC and Douglas Kisembo as goal keepers.

In defense the Serb named Denis Okot, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Joseph Nsubuga,MurushidJjuko, ShafiqBakaki, Richard Kassaga, Hassan WasswaDazo, Joseph Ochaya, Isaac Muleme and Bernard Muwanga.

In the midfield he called KCCA’s Ivan Ntege and MuzamiruMutyaba, Martin Kizza and Vipers SC’s KezironKizito, Farouk Miya and ErisaSsekisambu.

Micho also sought to engage the services of BrianUmony, Caesar Okhuti, Robert Ssentongo, Frank Kalanda and Nelson Senkatuka as strikers.

The record CECAFA winners on 13 times, Uganda is placed in group B together with the reigning champions Kenya, Burundi and Zanzibar and is expected to play their first match on Sunday, November, 22, 2015.

Others groups are as follows

Group A: Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Somalia

Group B: Sudan, Malawi, South Sudan and Djibouti
