The head coach of Uganda National Beach Soccer Team- Sand Cranes, Salim Jamal Muwonge has on Tuesday confirmed the final team of players who will travel for the 2021 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Senegal (23rd – 29th May 2021).
This team of 15 players departs the country on Wednesday morning for West Africa aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
Uganda was drawn in group A alongside hosts Senegal as well as two neighbors Tanzania and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Muwonge who is deputized by Bashir Mutyaba is optimistic that they will compete favorably at the championship having trained well at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.
“We have had good training for the championship and we expect to compete at the tournament. The players are in the right mood mentally and physically,” Muwonge stated.
FUFA Executive Committee member Hamid Juma is the leader of delegation to Senegal that also has two Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) delegates Deo Mutabazi (also chairman) as well as Anthony Tumwesigye.
