Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor Prof. Elly Katunguka has revealed that the institution is not prepared for online exams.
Speaking on UBC earlier today, Prof. Katunguka said the University has a big population of students and has not yet discussed the issue with the Senate. He said the Directorate of Information Computer and Technology is working on the innovation.
“We are very cautious about getting online for examinations. We have to study it in greater detail. We have to improve our ICT infrastructure so that a student in Karamoja can attend classes and sit exams just like a student in Kampala,” Prof Elly tipped.
Most Education centers are up to date still closed as per the President’s directive to curb the spread of the corona virus leaving many learners in uncertainty; prompting others to relentlessly demand for a contingent plan from their institutions’ leaders. Some Universities have switched to e-Learning while others have taken an extra step to assess the students online, a stride Kyambogo intends to make.
The applicability of online examinations could be biased since the Vice Chancellor’s comments pop at a time when Kyambogo University is being held captive by ICT flaws that include deletion of 2900 students’ data waiting to graduate next month.
