Sports Club Villa have confirmed the appointment of Greek coach Petros Koukouras as their new head coach ahead of the new Uganda Premier League season.
The 35-year UEFA A licensed coach has signed a three-year contract with the Jogoos. He replaces Edward Kaziba who has been at the club for the last two seasons.
Koukouras will be assisted by former KCCA FC first team and youth team coach Jackson Magera who will be his first assistant and Richard Amatre.
“I am very happy to be here, this is the most successful and that led me to accept the job,” Koukouras said adding; “I prefer not to talk too much because there is so much to be done and I do not want to promise a lot at the moment too.”
He has previously handled Apollon Kalamarias (2015), Desn Youth Football Club in Guangdong – China (2016 to 2018), Real Madrid Foundation Clinics (February 2018), Pacific Heroes (2018-2019), and lately South Sudan National team (2019-2021).
Koukouras joins the list of foreign coaches to handle Villa alongside English-man Geoff Hudson (1988-1991), Serbian Milutin Micho Sredojevic (2002-2004), Serbian Zivojnov Srdjan (2010–2011), and recently Antonio Flores (2015) from Spain.
