Must read

The Uganda National Netball Team, known as The She Cranes have been placed 7th in the latest International Netball Federation (INF) World Rankings released on March 13.

They have accumulated a total of 3219 points with a rating of 119.

The She Cranes are also 3rd in Africa, behind South Africa (5th) and Malawi (6th).

Zimbabwe at 12th overall and Zambia at 16th, complete Africa’s top five best countries.

2019 Netball World Cup hosts England moved back into 2nd place in the latest INF World Rankings displacing Jamaica.

New Zealand fell to 4th place just behind Jamaica.

Swaziland are no longer a member of INF and are therefore not eligible for a world ranking.

Thailand moved down to 36th, and as a result, St Maarten have moved up to 33rd, Chinese Taipei to 34th and Israel to 35th.

The top ten in order are; Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, England, South Africa, Malawi, Uganda, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Trinidad & Tobago.

The latest updated list includes matches up to 3rd March 2019. The ranking list relates to senior teams of member countries that are playing regular international test matches.

A rating is a measure of the average performance of a team over a series of matches. Each team earns a certain number of points from each international match.

Their rating is the total number of points earned divided by the number of matches played. The team with the highest rating is ranked first in the world. The next highest rating is ranked second and so on.

The number of points earned by a team for any match depends on two factors. The result (won, tied or lost) and the opponent against whom the result was achieved. The higher an opponent’s rating the more points are earned for beating them.

If a team wins a match they will earn 50 points more than their opponent’s rating. But if they lose, they will earn 50 points less than their opponent’s rating.
