Vipers draw Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, Horoya AC in Caf Champions league group

The draw for the 2022/23 CAF Champions League group stages has been conducted today December 12 in Cairo, Egypt.

Uganda representatives Vipers Sports Club were drawn in Group C alongside Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, Horoya Athletic Club of Guinea and Tanzania’s Simba Sports Club.

The Venoms are set to compete in CAF Champions League group stage for the first time in the Club’s history and become the second Uganda club to do so after KCCA FC in 2018.

The groups will begin on February 10, 2023 and end on April 1, 2023. Teams will face off on a home and away round robin basis. The winners and runners-up of each group will advance to the Quarterfinals of the knockout stage.

The CAF Champions League draw marked the 25th anniversary of CAF’s most prestigious inter-club competition, the first edition dating back to 1997.

Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club are the defending champions after beating Egypt’s Al Ahly in the 2022 final.

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗕: Al Ahly SC (Egypt), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al Hilal (Sudan), Cotton Sport (Cameroon).

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗖: Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Horoya Athletic Club (Guinea), Simba SC (Tanzania), Vipers SC (Uganda).

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗: Espérance (Tunisia), Zamalek SC (Egypt), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), Al Merrikh (Sudan).
