Shawn Mubiru, who is in charge of communications for Kizza Besigye’s Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party says former Presidential candidate is not doing fine after Kigezi Police arrested him.

This comes moments after Police came out to explain the circumstances under which the opposition strongman and Kampala mayor Erias Lukwago were arrested.
Besigye was by press time still held at Ntungamo Police Station, where he was taken after being arrested Rwamucucu sub county Rukiga county, Kabale district.
“Dr. Besigye’s arrest was preventive because he was trying to cross into Rukungiri secretly was a big threat to the security of the people in the area,” the police spokesman for Kigezi Mr Elly Maate revealed.
Besigye was arrested about 18km from Kabale town as he tried to cross into the neighboring Rukungiri district which is also his home district. He was Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and newly elected Kawempe South MP Mubaraka Munyagwa.
The trio and three others are accused of inciting violence back in 2012 during their 4GC rally held in Kabale stadium during the walk-to-work campaigns. Kabale Chief Magistrates court adjourned the case to June 6 for further hearing because the trial chief magistrate is on leave.

Earlier on Tuesday, Besigye was greeted by cheering supporters as they attended prayers at the party offices in Kabale that corresponded with the national ones at the headquarters in Najjanankumbi along Entebbe road.
A number of FDC supporters were also arrested in Mbarara on Monday as Besigye made a stopover in the town on his way to attend court.
Mbarara Police said Besigye’s supporters started pelting stones at security officers.
